Perfect fit on my Gaggia Classic 2015 USA model; highly recommended for anyone trying to upgrade from the stock one that comes with the espresso machine.

Fit just right. Nice and snug. It’s an attractive piece and, somehow, just watching that coffee brew into the cup makes it taste even better. Fresh beans make a huge difference of course. If you didn’t know that, then you have no business buying a tool like this.

I bought this because my old bottomless from my pre-2015 didn't fit.
This one fits perfectly on my new 2015 classic Gaggia. Buy with confidence.

I’ve been wanting a bottomless portafilter for a while, and I am very happy with this one. The handle actually feels much sturdier than the stock portafilter that came with my machine. It fits the group head with no problems and looks great. I haven’t tried the included triple shot basket, since I typically only use about 18g of ground coffee for my double shots, so I can’t comment on that. Overall, this was a great purchase for a surprising low price compared to a lot of other bottomless portafilter I had seen.

I bought this to go with the Gaggia Classic. With an aftermarket silicone grouphead gasket I get a better fit from this portafilter than from the original portafilter. Plus the handling is more ergonomic with this portafilter than the original. And of course the advantage of viewing the extraction was the main motivation for the purchase.

Excellent quality portafilter, really nice handle and fits my selecta delux perfectly. Order was dispatched quickly and arrived without any damage and yet with minimal packaging... Which makes one feel slightly better.
Quarantine has been a good time to experiment with a bottomless portafilter, it is messy at the beginning though!

Fits the new Gaggia classic pro like a glove. Great quality and results, would advise upgrading the basket to a VST though.

Fits perfectly and does the job really well. Build quality is fine and seems like good value for its cost. Delivery was really quick and problem-free.

First off, this is a great deal. To buy this in the U.S., prices range from $55 to $90 and many of the products are modified stock portafilters.

I have been pretty pleased with my espresso machines (a Gaggia Classic and two Quickmill 800 series) although each had their own strengths. The Quickmill's produced great espresso, but were weak in the steaming area. The Gaggia produces great steam, but pulls just okay shots.

I hoped this bottomless portafilter would make the Gaggia a great all around machine and it does just that. I received the parcel this morning (Just four days via Royal Mail to California!!) and couldn't wait to try a shot.

I got a little bit of spatter as it started but then it settled into a single stream of crema perfection. This was absolutely the best shot I have ever pulled. I think a better tamper and the spattering will stop.

This also answered a question regarding my Breville Smart Grinder Pro. While most dismiss the grinder in favor of more expensive ones, I have tweaked it over time to where I get a pretty consistent grind. I think the portafilter confirms that.

Anyway, I'm really happy with this purchase and the overall experience with the Espresso Shop. They have earned my continued business.

I held off buying a bottomless portafilter for far too long! Being able to properly see the different colour streams of coffee has proven invaluable for judging the quality of each extraction. This has proven not to be messy at all (no unfortunate "spurts"!), which was my main worry.
Solid and well made product that really helps you to improve your technique. Fully recommend.

The bottomless porta filter arrived promptly, earlier than I expected. Quality and fit are perfect. I have been practicing with it and with the newly arrived Marzocco single filter basket, trying different grind settings and varying tamping pressure. My Gaggia has been greatly improved.

Bought this so that I could put my oversized coffee bowl under the portafilter without running the risk of chipping it as quite often happens with the spouted variety. Ideal solution for me. I had looked at getting a reduced size overflow tray but baulked at the price, so buying this was the reasonably priced alternative.

Fits my Gaggia Classic perfectly. The basket is deep, which I like, and the whole portafilter is slightly easier to clean than the machine original.

The bottomless style is more demanding and any deviation of grind or tamping will be punished by a sputtering, messy, delivery. Get it right though and you are rewarded with a single spout of thick, creamy coffee.

Perforations in basket not aligned, sprays in all directions. Had to use needle to prick out the basket. Handle is very good though better than the original manufacturers.

Works great, just make sure you pack the coffee evenly and tamp very firmly (single shot, less so on doubles and above).
Only problem I encountered was it did not fit properly (over tight). This was rectified with some careful filing of the 'ears' which means the brass is exposed but now it fits perfectly.

The filter basket holder is standard but functional. The 21gm basket is, like all 21gm baskets I have used, less so. Don't know why. I just use a smaller filter basket in it. Like the (costly but excellent) 12 -18gm competition filter I have puffed up in another review

Very unhappy with the gaggia naked portafilter
I bought 2 items, arrived on time, we'll packed. However, the portafilter does not work as specified and as expected. When using it, the whole Coffee machine area get massed up as some of coffee spills outside and not to the cup, like in a regular portafilter. This I guess relates to the design of a naked portafilter, but this is different from the description.
In addition, no crema on the top as highlighted on the description.

Very dissatisfied.

The Tamper is great.

Please advise.

Haim.

Hi Haim,
We are sorry to hear that you are not happy with your product, however from the symptoms you have described, it sounds like you don't have the correct grind of coffee to use with the naked portafilter. If the coffee is not coming down in a gentle pour, with a good crema then it suggests your coffee is at the incorrect grind. Try grinding finer and be sure to tamp evenly. It is highly unlikely that the handle is badly manufactured. We can help you with any issues you may have.
Kind Regards
The Espresso Shop Team
