I am purchasing this Shower Plate to replace the nasty alloy one that comes on my Gaggia Classic.
I am also planning on replacing my shower screen with a shiny new one, but I am not sure which one to purchase.
Do I go a 55mm or a 54.5mm shower screen for this?

The choice of the brass shower plate is good, the size of the shower plate although different by
a 1/2mm is of no consequence.

Hello, how can I tell if my Gaggia Classic is a 2014 model or older? This is in reference to replacing the OEM shower plate with your brass unit? Also is the WGA16G1002 a Gaggia product? Lastly, another buyer wrote he thought the water holes were smaller that the OEM part, is this true and if so does it effect pulling a shot? Thank you kindly, Dean

The Classic 2015 does not have a shower plate holder. This is not an OEM product. The point of the brass is to give heat stability in the head and the smaller holes give a very marginal slow down of the water flow which improves the extraction.

seems like 2015 was the year of the model change...
This part looks exactly like the one I have in alloy and I am thinking of replacing it after having read all the positive reviews.

For domestic Gaggia Classic style machines that have a shower plate holder it is best to use the original https://www.theespressoshop.co.uk/en/Gaggia-Classic-Filter-Holder-Gasket-%c3%b8-72x57x85mm---NG01001/m-1968.aspx. Other Gaggia gaskets are designed for commercial machines, which are a harder rubber and dont seal too well on the the domestic machines.
