Multi Boiler Technology
Multiboiler technology has a more limited application compared to its direct competitor, the HX version but the multiboiler is moving onward and upward both for machine operators and for public. VBM was the first manufacturer able to successfully combine the E61 group with Multiboilers technology and is now the only company improving this technology.
With regards to functioning, in comparison with the HX technology, the thermosiphonic circulation principle and pre-infusion remain the same but with the addition of:
1. A more precise control on temperatures during brewing phase
2. Independence of steam power increased from the brewing temperatures
3. Electronic check of the single shots parameters
With regards to the hydraulic circuit, this is the same as in the traditional heater exchanger system (HX). Espresso brewing boiler (B) is connected to the brewing group (GH) through an upper circulation tube (IT) and a lower circulation tube (OT). This can guarantee the water thermosiphonic circulation for the brewing group heating even in the idle phase.
Brewing boiler (B) is totally filled with water and the net pressure (or pump pressure when the group is working) guarantees their immediate filling (saturation) unlike the HX technology system.
Group temperature adjustment is made through a probe (P), driven by a display by means of a control unit: the operator can set the desired temperature value for the group, unlike the HX technology system.
Water and steam boiler (independent of the brewing boiler), always contains a part of water and steam in order to produce steam and tea water. The water/steam ratio is adjustable if you want, unlike the HX technology system. There is no need to worry about how this adjustment influences the brewing temperature since brewing boiler is totally independent of the hydraulic circuit.
