A little trick to fit, but well worth the effort to restore my machine to working order.

I have not placed this in the machine as yet but I am very impressed with how quickly I received it. This is the only place I could find this particular part. Thank you for having it.

While changing the piston I thought I may as well renew the sleeve too after 16 years. This is identical to the sleeve I removed from the machine. Does require a special tool to screw into place. I improvised with a small bar and a pair of grips which worked but wasn't ideal. Make sure it is screwed in as far as possible otherwise it isn't possible to get the final grouphead seal in to position.
Coffee machine as good as new once more.

My old sleeve snapped a few days before Xmas (on my 15 year old machine). The good folk at Espresso Shop had one shipped over and it arrived at my door the very next day! My machine is now working, and I have been spared the spectre of a coffeeless Xmas.

Two points.
1) I found that I could not finger tighten the sleeve enough to seat it properly, and had to use a pair of pliers and a 5cm allen key to screw it in.

2) This is the original LP part, but the heat does make it brittle and breakable after many years of use, so it would be good to sell a more durable third party brass replacement.

I had a spare one of these fortunately. For some time, my Pavoni lever had been very stiff both raising and lowering. On stripping it down, I found that the piston sleeve was slightly distorted. I fitted the replacement I had in stock and all was well again.
Having experienced the problem once and using my spare, I decided to have another in stock just in case.
Not sure what caused the original problem, possibly heat?
Has anyone else had the problem?

Original unit had a crack in it. Replacement was difficult to fit (very tight) until I did the following. (1) Cleaned the threads very carefully inside the machine, (2) Then put a thin coating of olive oil on them, (3) Used the business end of a wooden spatula as a tool in the sleeve slots to tighten it the last few rotations. All fine now, sealed up well and making good coffee again.
