I haven't yet got the machine rebuilt, but the quality seems very good and the price competitive. I've really appreciated advice today on the rebuild. Unable to screw the old pressure stat into the threaded hole in the element base (because the copper pipe to the stat snagged on the electrical terminals) I've now been told how to fix it. The solution is to buy a new pressure stat pipe, as the copper is soft and mouldable to shape when new. The kind guys at Espresso Shop explained exactly what to do, and apologised for the lack of info on the website which is still brand new. It works incredibly well but is still light on helpful tips. In future, they are thinking of offering the element + pressure stat pipe + gasket together as a kit, and that would certainly have solved the wee problem I had (due to my own lack of experience). Thanks anyway, very easy to deal with and very quick. I really recommend this store.

Easy to fit in my old laPavoni - though leakage problems meant using the original black rubber seal. To expose more seating on the boiler rim it was necessary to tighten the brass foundation ring - a job for my mallet and oak punch. The pressure sensor needed to be adapted to fit - fortunately though, its copper piping is quite malleable so there was no problem there.

Relatively simple replacement fro element. Make sure that the o ring is fitted correctly and the copper pressure tube is sealed correctly when transferring across, then all should be well

Bought the element and O ring thinking this would be a simple fit but the pressure valve and copper tubing require some manipulation to get the job done. First, unplug the wires (and remember where they go!), then undo the nut where the pressure valve piping meets the old element. Doing it this way gives you leverage as the element is held in place by the securing bolts. You'll need to gently prise up the copper pipe to avoid it snagging on the electric connector posts. Then unbolt the element. No washer needed when re-connecting the pressure pipe but make sure the rubber O ring is properly seated when fitting the new element. Note: I had to buy 3x M5 12mm machine screws as the old ones were too long for the new element (different mounting flange). And an M4 nut as one of the electrical connectors is mounted on a threaded post on the new element. On the the old element it was a nut. So check these things out before you start work, make sure you have the extra screws and nut if you need them, and give yourself about an hour to finish the job. It's not difficult and well worth it to have your machine back in service on 240v. I also fitted the new red La Pavoni badge which makes a surprising difference to the appearance of the machine...love it!
